A reminder
For those of you with free subscriptions, please consider converting to a paid subscription. I intend this page to be as rich and varied in content as I can make it, and I won’t spare any effort in making it that.
As one reader put it, the monthly cost equals the amount one would pay for, say, a Venti-sized White Chocolate Mocha at Starbucks. As I explained in my first post: “I intend to offer a few posts every month. The first few will be available to everyone, without a paid subscription, and beyond that, I’ll occasionally post ‘free’ posts, perhaps as often as once a month. I have opted for the paid subscription norm, but I’m charging less than Substack asks. (And, if anyone really can’t afford a subscription, please don’t hesitate to let me know that — email me at addhart@yahoo.com.) My two reasons for choosing the payment option are these: first and most obviously, I’m doing this project in lieu of writing a book, and writing is my source of income; second, I don’t want trolls on the page or disputes of any kind. The payment option reduces the chances of the latter occurring.”
The next post will be a bonus Christmas post, and the one after that will be a continuation of the “defining terms” theme. Both will be free for everyone. After that, there will be a paywall for most posts, except for paid subscribers — but if you stay on as a free subscriber, there will be occasional posts available for you, too, each month.
