In the next post on the Gospels, I will discuss the Gospel of Thomas — the only noncanonical Gospel that I will include in this series. To prepare you for my comments, I offer below four videos. The first two are overviews (the second of which I consider particularly worthwhile). The latter two are dramatic readings of the Coptic version of Thomas, one in a “passionate” mode of presentation and the second in a “gentle” style. I include these last two because the differences in presentation affect how we “hear” these (in all likelihood, evolved and edited) Coptic texts. I’m making this post a “free” one since the videos are all available on YouTube. As you will see, my views regarding this peculiar “Gospel” (if we can even call it that) have some peculiarities of their own. But that’s for next time.
