It would be remiss of me not to urge you to listen to this discussion. Over at my brother David’s Substack page, Leaves in the Wind (I assume most of you subscribe to it, but if not…), he has just posted his two-hour conversation with Iain McGilchrist. I’ve been a long-time reader of McGilchrist myself, and regard him as one of the few truly worthwhile voices of learning and lucidity we have today. David is no slouch, either, for that matter (although brothers are loath to heap too much praise on one another — so much sentimental twaddle). About McGilchrist and their talk, David writes:

“Scientist, physician, psychiatrist, writer, literary scholar, and philosopher Iain McGilchrist is as genial as his work is fascinating. As anyone familiar with his books could attest, this conversation no more than grazes the surface of his thought; but it was, to my mind, a rich and absorbing conversation nevertheless. He is, moreover, almost aggressively sane.”

I listened this morning. Fascinating discussion. I am reading The Master and his Emmisary and it is extremelyengaging. His more recent book is still too expensive, but I'll get to it in time.

I was once a member of Leaves in the Wind but must admit to not caring for the tone, the spirit, of the place at all. This does look interesting, however. I shall genuinely look forward to giving it at least a short listen. Thank you as always for the pointer!
