Interesting (maybe darkly amusing) to note how the assertion "no vice is natural to man, whereas virtue is" basically amounts to blasphemy in the degenerate Midwestern Protestant tradition in which I was brought up (at least in my understanding of what I was told I had no choice but to believe). Sproul's "If we are unconverted one thing is absolutely certain: We hate God" and all. I still feel a conditioned reflex to recoil from affirming something like that; some part of me refuses to agree with it wholeheartedly. And the fact that so many humans feel compelled to think in such an absurd, degrading way seems to explain a lot about the trajectory of American history.
